Il était une fois, dans un petit village au bord d’une grande forêt, une gentille petite fille. Tous ceux qui la rencontraient l’aimaient immédiatement, mais personne ne l’aimait autant que sa grand-mère. La grand-mère cherchait toujours une nouvelle façon de faire plaisir à son enfant. Un jour, elle lui offrit un petit chaperon en velours rouge. Ce chaperon lui allait si bien qu’elle refusa désormais de porter autre chose. À partir de ce jour-là, tout le village l’appela le Petit Chaperon rouge. Sa grand-mère vivait au cœur de la forêt, à une demi-heure de marche du village. Le Petit Chaperon rouge lui rendait souvent visite, et elles étaient toujours heureuses d’être ensemble.

Il y a une petite fille. Elle a un chaperon rouge. Elle le porte tous les jours. Les gens l’appellent le Petit Chaperon rouge.
