Hans in Luck is a humorous Brothers Grimm tale about a young worker returning home after seven years of service. His employer rewards him with a heavy piece of gold, but Hans soon finds it difficult to carry. Along the road, he exchanges it for a horse, then trades the horse for a cow. Every new exchange appears to make his journey easier, even as his possessions become less valuable. Other travellers take advantage of his cheerful nature, but Hans continues to believe that fortune is on his side. Is Hans foolish for losing his wealth, or has he discovered a different kind of happiness?
