About this story

Humanity has become violent and corrupt, but Noah remains faithful to God. Warned that a devastating flood is coming, Noah is commanded to build an enormous ark for his family and representatives of every kind of animal. As the waters rise and cover the earth, everyone inside the ark must wait for signs that the flood is finally ending. Noah’s Ark is one of the Bible’s most recognizable stories, combining destruction, survival, obedience and renewal. It concludes with God’s covenant with Noah and the appearance of the rainbow as a sign of that promise.

Jahwe hat gesehen, dass die Menschen auf der Erde sehr böse waren. Alles, was sie gedacht und gewollt haben, war immer nur böse. Da hat es Jahwe leid getan, dass er die Menschen auf der Erde gemacht hatte, und er war tief traurig. Jahwe hat gesagt: „Ich will die Menschen, die ich gemacht habe, von der Erde wegnehmen. Auch die Tiere, die kleinen Tiere auf dem Boden und die Vögel am Himmel will ich wegnehmen. Denn es tut mir leid, dass ich sie gemacht habe.“ Aber Noah hat Gnade bei Jahwe gefunden.

Jahwe sieht die Menschen auf der Erde. Er sieht viel Böses. Die Menschen denken immer wieder an böse Dinge. Da tut es Jahwe leid. Es tut ihm weh, dass er die Menschen gemacht hat. Jahwe sagt: „Ich will die Menschen von der Erde wegnehmen. Auch die Tiere, die kleinen Tiere und die Vögel sollen weg sein. Denn es tut mir leid, dass ich sie gemacht habe.“ Aber Noah gefällt Jahwe.
