About this story

Humanity has become violent and corrupt, but Noah remains faithful to God. Warned that a devastating flood is coming, Noah is commanded to build an enormous ark for his family and representatives of every kind of animal. As the waters rise and cover the earth, everyone inside the ark must wait for signs that the flood is finally ending. Noah’s Ark is one of the Bible’s most recognizable stories, combining destruction, survival, obedience and renewal. It concludes with God’s covenant with Noah and the appearance of the rainbow as a sign of that promise.

Yahvé a vu que la méchanceté des hommes était grande sur la terre et que, dans leur cœur, leurs pensées et leurs intentions allaient sans arrêt vers le mal. Alors il a regretté d’avoir fait l’homme sur la terre, et cela l’a profondément attristé. Yahvé a dit : « J’effacerai de la surface du sol l’homme que j’ai créé, et avec lui les animaux, les bêtes qui rampent et les oiseaux du ciel, car je regrette de les avoir faits. » Mais Noé a trouvé grâce aux yeux de Yahvé.

Yahvé voit que les hommes sont très mauvais sur la terre. Dans leur cœur, ils pensent toujours au mal. Alors Yahvé regrette d’avoir fait l’homme sur la terre. Son cœur est très triste. Yahvé dit : « Je vais enlever de la terre l’homme que j’ai créé. Je vais aussi enlever les animaux, les petites bêtes qui rampent et les oiseaux du ciel. Oui, je regrette de les avoir faits. » Mais Noé trouve grâce aux yeux de Yahvé.
