About this story

Humanity has become violent and corrupt, but Noah remains faithful to God. Warned that a devastating flood is coming, Noah is commanded to build an enormous ark for his family and representatives of every kind of animal. As the waters rise and cover the earth, everyone inside the ark must wait for signs that the flood is finally ending. Noah’s Ark is one of the Bible’s most recognizable stories, combining destruction, survival, obedience and renewal. It concludes with God’s covenant with Noah and the appearance of the rainbow as a sign of that promise.

Yahvé vio que en la tierra la maldad humana era muy grande. Todo lo que la gente pensaba y deseaba en su corazón se inclinaba siempre hacia el mal. Entonces Yahvé sintió pesar por haber hecho al ser humano en la tierra, y le dolió profundamente. Por eso dijo: «Voy a borrar de la faz de la tierra al hombre que he creado, y también a los animales, los reptiles y las aves del cielo, porque me pesa haberlos hecho». Pero Noé encontró favor ante los ojos de Yahvé.

Yahvé ve que hay mucha maldad en la tierra. La gente piensa en el mal todo el tiempo. Entonces Yahvé se arrepiente de hacer al ser humano en la tierra. Esto le duele en el corazón. Yahvé dice: «Voy a borrar de la tierra al hombre que hice. También voy a borrar a los animales, a los reptiles y a las aves del cielo, porque me arrepiento de hacerlos». Pero Noé tiene el favor de Yahvé.
