About this story

In the beginning, the earth is dark, empty and without form. Over six days, God creates light, the sky, the land, the seas, plants, the sun, the moon, the stars and every kind of living creature. Humanity is created in God’s image and given responsibility over the earth. On the seventh day, God rests from the work of creation. The Creation of the World opens the Book of Genesis and the Bible itself, presenting a powerful account of how the universe, life and humanity began. Its sequence of seven days has influenced religion, literature, art and culture for centuries.

La început, Dumnezeu face cerul și pământul. Pământul este fără formă și gol. Este întuneric peste ape. Duhul lui Dumnezeu Se mișcă deasupra apelor. Dumnezeu spune: „Să fie lumină.” Atunci este lumină. Dumnezeu vede lumina. Lumina este bună. Dumnezeu desparte lumina de întuneric. Dumnezeu numește lumina „zi”. Întunericul îl numește „noapte”. Este seară și este dimineață. Aceasta este ziua întâi.
